Well, we shot Friday night with two hvx's. Combined on the set, we had right around 125 years of experience working in the film industry. Our dp has been nominated for two emmy awards as well. It went fairly smoothly, but lasted 'til 6 a.m. (I hate nights)We had 3 4 gig p2 cards and elected to shoot with them instead of going direct to a hard drive. The reason being is that I cannot seem to lick the delay in the audio. It is about 15 frames and I don't know why. I used the P2 log and it worked quite nicely. The only thing is this. I literally cannot do anything but techinical parts of the shoot. But that is why there are many departments on a film. We had a glitch with one camera though. When we did our initial set up, I could not set a frame rate in 1080i 24p. I could set it in 720p though and then I switched it to 1080i and saved the settings. The dp and the 2nd camera operator watched me do it and we double checked before shooting. After doing the opening sequence (completely) with all the coverage, we checked the settings again and for some reason the settings were at 720p so the frame sizes were off. Ahhhh Geesus! We don't know if it had something to do with changing the battery or what. We had to reshoot all the coverage again. However, we had shot only one side of the coverage with that camera, so we re shot everything on that sice with both cameras and it only took about a half an hour.
Anyway, here are a couple of screen grabs from Friday's shoot.

Sure...I get that...

But was it a special suit or something? Or do you not want to elaborate?

The director and myself are stunt coordinators as well as dga directors. The guy, our Banshee, which has now been changed in title, is also a stuntman, stunt coordinator.
He has on two layers of nomex underwear, a sweatshirt, a wool navy peacoat which doesn't conduct heat all that well and a wool watch cap. His head was covered with burn gel as well. THERE WERE OTHER PRECAUTIONS AS WELL, BUT I WILL NOT TELL YOU WHAT THEY ARE.
We also had a hose available and TWO Co2 fire extinguishers.
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME, WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE DOING.

Steve - The grabs look great! i can't wait to see some footage, AND the completed project.

Just one thing. You may want to put a warning in the thread title to let folks know about the first couple of bloody shots. With what happened recently to another poster's thread because of someone being offended by the content, I'd hate to see the same thing happen here. (I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on your great shots!)

You know what is unbelievable. that there have been 172 views of these screen grabs and two people have commented. Good, bad or indifferent.

Nice stuff dude.. I'd love to see some footage.. I bet if you gave a taste of some of the footage, you would get a huge response!

FIREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

I could give a taste of the footage, but haven't figured out how to make it compatible with the parameters of the upload. i guess I will have to put it up on my website and tie it in. Oh well, I'm happy, as is the director.
