Late next week shipments are to begin from Panny! Any Birger mount news anyone?

My guys at EAR had their AF100 demo yesterday and the word from Panasonic brass is that cameras will begin to ship late next week according to EAR! Looks like the first batch will ship prior to the 27th! I'm expecting to get my camera BEFORE Xmas! :)

Whoohoo!

Also, has anyone heard any news on the Birger mount? Last I heard we were suppose to have an announcement and pricing by now. Expectations were that the Birger mount would be available near the time of the release of the AF100. Anyone hear any news?

I called them today. They said that it would be next week when we "might hear something". Lets hope they can get these things to market soon! I really don't want to buy lenses just because there are no good Canon L series adapters out.

I was on the waiting list for their mount for the Red 10+ months. Wound up selling my Red and canceling my order. Sure hope that isn't the case with this adapter. Kept the lenses I planned to use on the Red - would be nice to finally use them.

I just asked Full Compass for an update on AF100 shipping , and they checked with some level of Panasonic I believe. I was told they "SHOULD" be able to ship mine (I was within their first 24 units ordered) somewhere around the end of the month. So I suppose it would make sense that the first units will be leaving the factory within the next couple weeks or so. I wonder whether they get physically shipped directly from Panasonic to the retailers, or whether they go through distributors warehouses first.

Yeah, it would be great just to get some periodic updates. Even if it was "We're running behind schedule and are hoping we will have dates sometime late Jan, Feb. . . " etc.

Panasonic is still on time with delivery at the end of the month. Don't get your hopes up for early delivery, but if it does arrive next week you'll hear about it.

Rumor is that the Birger adapter will be ready in January.

Early January, late January?? I was holding off buying lenses until the release, in hopes of buying some canon glass with the birger mount. I may have to go a different route...at least for now.

Andy,

When you say delivery at end of month, do you mean you will HAVE then at the end of the month? Or they will leave Japan (Or where ever) at end of month...

Abel-Cinetech called me today to say our two AF100's should be here the week of the 27th. We are at or near the top of the preorder list.

Birger mount for AF100?

They came to prominence and grew and grew on the back of RED one. By then, Panasonic will have the AF300 and RED will say that Scarlet will be available mid next yearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Just the sad reality because "Everything in life changes... including our camera specs and delivery dates..."

I am wondering about using a cheap micro 4/3 to EOS adapter until Birger have something. I wouldn't be able to control aperture from the AF100, but I think I can use the DOF preview on my 5D, release the camera to freeze the aperture and then connect it to my AF100. Just in case I need to close it up some. I'll try to control exposure with shutter speed. This may be a terrible plan, but I hate to buy anything more expensive and have the Birger mount come out in January just after I've gotten my camera!

Does anyone know anything about this?
