We've moved on to Cluj, the historic center of Transilvainia, shoot for a week, three night for a chase/fight/vampire scene, the FS100's are champs.. here's me with Bcam/short Zeiss on a pogo stick, went for 10 hours with it, never got A cam out of the case;

really love the light weight, esp after a long night of running full on, and at 4:11am we decide to ask for another take if the actors have it in them... no asked me if i had it in me to run full tilt one more time ;-)

Asked earlier was how Acam is setup, snapped a piccie of showing the baseplate from Westside AV, it's pre-production version, and Olaf did not have time to get it anodised... it absolutly soild and i can't imagine haveing any lens heavier than the 16mm pancake on the camera without it, or something similar to support the lens mount, and keep the torque off the Emount...

The camera flys off the head and onto my shoulder with no changes, balances well (depending on the lens at the time)

on the back is a baseplate extension arm that holds a BMD recorder and a pre-production Vlok power system for FS100's from Swit, we got the only one in existance at the time for Acam, but they should hit the market soon, or already be there;

Next stop is Vlad's home town of Sigishowara for a week, then into the mountains for a week, Belgrade, for me home to Vancouver, and we wrap after newyear with a last week in Vancouver with a diffrent crew...

The Paris based crew i am working with are really great, it's been a good shoot, with some minor drama's.. camera is wonderful, images are wondeful, all good in FS100 land

thanks for the updates from the front lines.

we of the rear guard appreciate the news.

the rigs are impressive.

i'll admit, i'm capable of drolling over a zeiss on my fs100.

if i may, i'm still shopping for rigs and handles.

any pix of how you are using caleb's wooden handle is further appreciated.

be well.

Dermot,

What EVF is that please?

I'm going to build a shoulder rig and follow focus for my FS100 for a documentary job and I'm looking for recommendations for EVFs or small monitors.

The dock style is very live verité style with lots of movement so I need to be absolutely sure of focus. Are the small EVFs at 800x480 good enough or should I go for a DP6 level monitor? If I can narrow the list down to a few EVFs I'll go and get some demos.

Any advice gratefully received.

*** No need to reply, I'm buying a DP6.

Normaly it has a 90 degree, and a rod holding the Cineroid, and a second 90 degree and rod off the assistant side for a 7" mon

cables are routed through the center, i have the mic in a holder zipstraped to the handle as well for wild sound

works reaaaaaally well

top marks to Caleb, a he's a good guy

Piccie grabbed from set tonight while waiting for SFX makeup;

ah well.. good choice, i have a 1st AC / focus puller always with the camera, he uses his own 7" that has peaking and 1:1, i could only advise to use the Cineroid for frameing & operating, that's all i use it for.... huge delay makes action shots more "interesting" than i prefer... i shoot with both eyes open at times...
