LA's hidden secret.

I remember seeing the disguised oil rig next to Beverly Hills High School on one of those sightseeing tours during one of my first trips to L.A. It's interesting how the rigs are hidden out there. I grew up in West Texas where nobody makes any effort to hide the oil/natural gas equipment.

Yep, that's what I'm used to here. I know of one in a parking lot of a Buy4Less. There's also a lot right outside the OKC airport.

I heard a suburb of Los Angeles, Santa Fe Springs Ca, well technically it might be this whole area around here. Anyway, I heard this area is one of the biggest oil (fields?) in the hemisphere. Never looked it up, so it may be wrong.

I talked about this to a lot of people after being out there so many times... driving all over LA and constantly finding one of those things... even in the middle of a residential neighborhood!

Maybe Jed and his kin only moved to the other side of town?

Ventura, Seal Beach, Long Beach, Santa Barbara...

Oil derricks everywhere. I can recall riding in the car through Torrance, Long Beach as a little kid and always finding the oil derricks a bit scary because they were big, moved fast and looked a bit like dinosaurs (and this was way before I learned that oil was made up of dinosaurs...). Was always something a bit unsettling about them to me.
