Laptop recomendation to run AVID Express

Afternoon Everyone.

I'm picking up a Mac laptop for my wife (I'm a PC man by trade) and I'm wondering what the requirements would be to run my copy of Avid Express Pro.

If I were purchasing it for myself, I would of course get the most tricked out model, but I'm hoping to get something in-between, since it's for my wife. I'd only use it sparingly - perhaps to rough cut some footage in the field.

Any thoughts you'd have would be greatly appreciated. For example, would this model be acceptable?

MAC BOOK
  • 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 1GB memory
  • 120GB hard drive1
  • Double-layer SuperDrive
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Barry. As usual, you assistance was as timely as it was accurate. You're the best!

Cheers,

Peter

P.S. I just completed my first short shot completely on the DVX100b (which I bought primarily on the basis of your advice, and the support of others here at DVXuser) I'd love to get your feedback if you have a moment to watch it. Thanks in advance.

Peter,

Awesome! I loved it! The super serious approach makes it absolutely hilarious! I totally dig this kind of stuff . . .

Best of luck!

Peter,

I just saw your audition piece on the lot. I laughed, I cried, I threw up! It was very funny. I auditioned too, I guess we got passed up.

I nearly threw up laughing at the siphoning bit. You really captured the style and delivered a solid piece. Looked great.

It was my audition piece (and it's poor visual quality of my nearly 10 year old DV cam) that inspired me to get my new HVX200. I'm gathering the troops to make my first short with it soon.
