Laptop offloading -- double time

Who needs defragging? I always reformat before a capture session. Also defragging is best for lots of small files but the huge video files don't wreck the drives like 20.000 text documents dating back to your college days.

Disk failures I have had have always been mechanical in nature. Raid is the way to go. Avoid Western Digital of course.

anyone doing five projects at once needs defragging... or, more hard drives.

Good point.

This is the boat I am in. I have 6 projects that are in process right now on my machine and two more coming in.

I defrag religiously...

why do things always have to turn into pc vs. mac? They are both good, and both have advantages of each other... Anyone that's completely one sided, is completely ignorant. Are you gonna buy one or the other because the OS come with a defrag tool? I doubt it.

I tested the files after copying and all was well. I can understand xray's caution when doing this from a hard disk source, as it would probably mean a whole lot of seeking and read-heads jumping around, but the difference is: this is a solid-state source.

Hmm... dunno... if you initiate the copies at close to the same time the caches should prevent all that. I do this a lot with HDD sources without a problem. But, of course, not an issue for the cards.
