Laptop monitor resolutions.....

I'm wondering whether laptops coming onto the market with 1600X1200 pix are High Definition viable? I'm looking into DV Rack with the power pack for HDV monitoring. I realize there is some difference between a CRT monitor and an LCD monitor but I wonder how close they are in color and clarity?
For field work, I can see the value of direct capture onto a laptop as an alternative to P2 cards. Any ideas?
 
HDV Rack does a pretty good job, but it depends partly on the quality of your laptop's screen. 1600x1200 would make for a pretty good fullscreen monitor view. 1920x1200 would be even better. I don't know how it does with both flavors of HDV -- I've got an HD1 here on loan right now, I should try it on my desktop (1280x1024 monitor) and see how it looks in full-screen mode...
