I have read that if I use an external HDD with the HVX that I cannot use the drive for any other purpose.

My question is:
Is this the same with a laptop? If I use a laptop computer to offload P2 cards, will I be able to use the laptop for anything else, or will the HVX reformat the drive and erase everything?
