Lake Tahoe footage

Thanks for posting. I hope you'll forgive my bluntness but this is how we all learn.

Probably the reasons you haven't gotten any responses so far are:

1. Your white balance is way off. There is a very heavy blue cast over a lot of the shots and it makes the greens in particular pretty ugly.
2. Some of your shots were overexposed.
3. Your edits were too long.
4. In my opinion, it was a really bad choice of music. Music and picture did not match.

It seemed like you put this together very hastily.

My advice to you would be to learn how to color correct if your footage is not white balanced (it happens to all of us). Try to think of your edits in terms of some kind of story even if the shots are just random. You can unify them with the right choice of music and a sense as to how long they should linger or disappear from the viewer's view. Take it slowly and learn about composition and watch how music is used as an actor in film.

Like I said, sorry to be so blunt but it is my honest opinion and everyone has to start somewhere so keep learing as you go. You've got the tools now learn your craft.
 
Yea, I'm not sure still photos of flowers go well with Robert Plant. There have to be more scenic places to film around Tahoe.
 
I don't think he has anything against Robert Plant, just that particular song. There a handful of others that would have went great with this.

Anyways, its a good start, but I have to agree with all that Disjecta pointed out. Also, composition is sooo important. Who wants to watch something that isn't pleasing to the eye, no matter how great the quality is. Just keep at it, and use these comments to better yourself and your craft.
 
Hey Disjecta, anything new with your stuff? I went to your site but it looks like it hasn't been updated in a few.
 
Was the color stuff a choice (I often like to alter the color temp a bit in scene options and give my stuff a tint) or did you just mess up the white balance?
 
MrWrong: Let me first say I know it is exciting to get your camera. And welcome. It is hard to keep from being over zealous by wanting to shoot just anything you can. One thing I am learn is taking my time and watch my colors, focus, and composition.

You got out and did something. And it takes "sugotts" to post on here for Feedback. We all have our differnt styles and opinions. Just remember learn all the techniques you can. There is a lot of wisdom here. So eat up.

Your vide was BLAN. It was simply BLAH. nothing to it, you left raw audio in on a montage. And seemed that there was no composition.

First time is not always pretty but the seconds BETTER be. :)
 
Did you say Tahoe? Where? I didn't see one shot of that swimming pool of mine.
