On Tom Cruise ?

Tom Cruise acts like he is made of plastic. His best role was the dude he played in The Outsiders, after that he became a total d i c k!

Then there is Tom Hanks; great actor but has a huge ego.

I don't know who elects these celebrity the status that they portray. Somehow I think these people believe they make the movie and not the other way around.

People are pawns to celebrity. Americans are a society of role playing losers, pawns to advertising, and they enjoy it because it signifies them. What on planet earth is an autograph going to do for you?

I have not heard of Hanks having a huge ego.

Cruise act's as if he is made of plastic ? Remind me not to hire you as my casting director.

tom hanks has a big ego? this, from a guy posting with the arrogance to presume that he is miles above the stupid, mindless, celebrity-worshiping, big mac munching, nike wearing masses? you must be a blast at dinner parties.

That a fact?!

So what promised land are you from?

Hanks is the finest actor we have, and that is the first time I have ever seen him saddled an egotist. In fact, I have only heard the polar opposite was true...that he was unspoiled by fame & quite down-to-earth.

Tom Cruise is also one hell of an actor...which roles specifically did he seem wooden...or plastic to you?

Seriously, though.

Regardless of all the publicity stunts, don't think people are going to help you hate on Tom Cruise. He's a good actor and probably will be til his hair falls out.

War Of The Worlds-- You saw him play a bad father, a TERRIBLE father but one who was damned to let his kids die. You calll him plastic?

Don't even get me started on Vanilla Sky or Eyes Wide Shut.

or Collateral, Born on the 4th of July, Magnolia, Minority Report, Jerry Maguire.....

This guy has mad skills. A fantastic actor, so saying he can't act based on his personal life is foolish and ignorant. Go watch these flicks, mang.

Cruise is one of the finer working actors today. He is a movie star for sure at that (Bigger than an actor) but way cooler and more talented than Brad 'The Hack' Pitt.

Has Cruise ever done a bad job in a film ? I think all of them have been respectable films at that; some cheese, some summer popcorn and some really damn cool and Best Picture worthy

I **cking love Cruise.

Collateral is probably my favorite performance of his. That or Magnolia.

I could care less about his personal life because that's his business. I don't read celebrity rags or watch Oprah or whatever else. I could care less about the private or public lives of actors as long as they aren't bringing it into the performance.

Which is why i choose not to read about crazy actor antics because I don't want to bring those conceptions into a theatre. It takes me out of the movie.

Cruise is good, so is Brad, but pretty boy actors I can't stand are people like Chad Michael Murray, and some of those NBC morning shows blow, 99% of the actors in the shows can't act.

The only reason why I would consider watching it would be because Chris Doyle shot it. The lens flare Nik Nerburn mentioned is probably done on purpose, though I should see it for myself first.

That's why I am going to see it.

Also, it does look unconventional. Whether that bears fruit is another thing.

Looks like it only took in about 18 million though. Perhaps, M.Knight doesn't expect a huge B.O because of "Lady in the Water's" unconventional approach.

Well, first off I must say I've enjoyed all of Night's films EXCEPT The Village. The ONLY reason I didn't like The Village is because a lot of the trailers/commercials made it seem like it was a movie about a monster that was keeping people in the village, I thought it was going to be a SCARY movie, this was before I was into film and like most fans, did not care about Night's type of films, only that they'e good & was dissappointed in The Village because the average fan probably thought it was about a monster, then it turns into a love story and finally the scret behind the village is revealed.

I think that's the reason people don't trust this film. Budget 75mil and only made 18mil first weekend, not a good look.

-SPOILER ALERT!!!-

Now I also want to say that I go to see movies to see a good story put into motiojn picture, I'm not there looking for grain or framing or trying to spot a boom mic. Saying that, I absolutely loved this movie. It was everything I was expecting from Night & it is so nice to see a movie with a fairy tale theme instead of some cliche plot. I agree that he has ways of telling great stories as why most successful movies are those that are not seen in everyday life. It's a breath of fresh air.

I thought the CGI wolf looked corny in the commercial but in the actual movie, the CGI is very good & crisp. Night needs to stop acting in his films, yes Night, we know what you look like. The story is magical, the suspense is edgy & the music fits perfectly.

I'd give it a 8/10 just because I wished the ending would've been slightly more dramatic, like maybe a last attempt at the narf by the wolf and it would've been nice if there were a couple more wolf scenes.

I went and watched it today. Its was alright. The music was nice, I will admit it got me a little choaked up in a few parts.

The acting was suprisingly really good. I wasn't bothered by Nights performance at all.

Spoilers.....

the ending was a little to traditional and weird, with the monkeys jumping out and a giant eagle flying down.

*SPOLIERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
I think the Guardian should have had to use his uber strong side to catch the Scrunt as it jumped at him or something. I think something should have been done with that angle. I know it was because he always wanted to be special, but the guy's strength should have been used. That being said...I still loved the film!

I know this has nothing to do with lady in the water....but today I bought The Village to rewatch it. I liked it when I saw it in the theatres....but after watching it now...I love the movie.

I think for those who have said they didn't like it...maybe watch it without any expections...and watch it for what it is. It's a very beautiful movie.

I was watching the bts, and Night said, that this wasn't meant to be a horror movie, or a thriller, but a romance. And I think that was accomplished in its own way.

ok two days later i can discuss this.

weak story, it was like a voice over movie where everyone said what they were thinking in first person. It would have been stronger story if it was a horror movie. I like the characters but i didnt like the movie and the roles they played.

didnt care for the lady from the wate not one bit. PG was good in it...

kinda sterotypical of chinese american asians and hispanics... i waiting for mnight to be a doctor or say something about genshi... i mean did anyone one else put off by how that was. i mean it was that sterotypical of asians and hispanics I almost walked out.

the wold was cool but went no where.... and then defeated...... booooooooo.....

not much development in characters.

shoots were cool when doyle was told to compos a good shot and not a weird mnight shot.

is it just me or has mnight just gotten weird and not in the best way. his first 2 movie had realism and this above the norm heros now its like weird and non effective.

also knew each character purpose before they realized it.

better than the village but still lame.

the critic explaining his end was neat but furthers how everyone was speaking their POV.

Must say that, there was NO point for Cleavland Heep to be the main character, as the the narf was there to see the WRITER.

M. Night is a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE actor.

And what with the gaurdian? He had like one line of dialouge.
Speaking of one line of dialouge, the monkeys were explained in one line. What was the point of the monkeys?

Honestly, what was the point of this movie?

I read a review that pointed out how egotistical it was for the director to cast himself as such an important character (it had spoilers, obviously). I haven't seen it but...c'mon...that's like Tarentino, only worse and not funny.

M. Nights performance wasn't that bad. He didn't even have enough screen time to make that type of judgement. I've seen much much worse.

Perhaps he should have casted someone for it though.... I agree with the sterotypes though.. the asian lead accent was such a stretch is was scary. granted, that might be what is good and he liked but remember amy's mom on "futurama"?.. thats what she sounded like.... I was waiting for the indian family to sound like Apu from the "simpsons" and he was a normal sounding person..... I mean why unconciously sterotype one people's race and accents and not other..... seems like a vendetta or something he thought would be interesting but it came off badly.... just a thought.
