Anyone have a good LA based store to pick up an wide for the HVX-200 tomorrow?

Just moved out here and haven't found a replacement for the mecca of NYC video gear b&h...

Try these guys.

vmivideo.com

Without going into too much detail, I was able to get everything from a large order on B&H but through guys at the same price. Their website isn't as robust as B&H, but they're customer support is better from what I've heard.

I couldn't really figure out how to find things on their site, but call them and ask them for what you want and see if they have it.

I'd call Lewis Wilson:

They got me everything I needed on this order. Hope that helps. I'm not in LA so there might be more places out there too.

YES, I second EVS in Glendale.

They have always been great about communication and pricing.

And as a bonus, they don't sell gray market cameras like the company you're looking to substitute :)

Cranky,

The AG-HVX200 that I own was purchased in the USA from B&H in 2006 and is certifiably gray market. It's ineligible for repair under Panasonic warranty, and for Barry's HVX book, etc. The seller was nice enough to sell me a USA Mack Warranty though.

As it goes, Caveat Emptor or "buyer beware".

Interesting. Have you ever had a need to repair it? Did Panasonic U.S.A. agree to repair it, for a fee, of course? I am thinking of a gray-market 155, I don't care much about 1-year warranty, but if I were not able to service it AT ALL it would be really bad.

I was contemplating buying a hvx205 gray market camera a few months ago. I contacted the panasonic service center in Kansas to inquire if I had problems if they would be able to repair/service the camera at my expense. The service center told me they would not be able to repair the camera. The camera would have to be sent back to the country of origin for repair. I decided not to take the risk and purchased a low hour hvx200 instead.

Make sure that it includes the P2 card if the price is supper cheap..... and not grey market.
