L series glass.

The crop factor of AF100 compared to a full frame digital (vista vision) its ~2x. The APC-S 7D is ~1.6x.

A 50mm on the 5D will look like an 80mm on the 7D, and 100mm on the AF100. The field of view will be a little narrower, but the DOF will remain the same.

Your 14mm on the AF100 will be 28mm FOV, on the 7D it would have been 22.4. Very little difference. Also, compared to S35 film, the crop factor of the AF100 is only about x.3, nearly the same.

It will turn your 14mm lens look like a 28mm lens on the AF-100.
Whatever lens you have on your 5D will roughly double on the Af-100.

I'm in the same boat and already own lots of Canon L primes and plan to use them on the AF100 with the Birger mount. I too also still shoot stills on a Canon dslr so it's going to be nice to be able to use the same glass. What I've settled for is the Nikon 14-24, which is an amazing lens, and the Tokina 11-16mm F2.8. The Tokina is the lens to look at IMO. At 11mm it's wide enough. (22mm on AF100) It also works well on your 7d. It's a great lens and it's only $600. Of course eventually the 7-14mm is the way to go but I like having 11mm at f2.8 for $600.

Just my 2cents

I just hope Birger comes out with the adapter around the release time of the camera, and that their prices will be reasonable.
