Kung Fu

I think I've only seen a little of the last Kill Bill movie on TV, but I thought this was nicely made. One thing I might say about the acting, though I thought they did good, is that it might have seemed a bit deadpan. Was it meant to be that way?

Still, very well done in my opinion.

I haven't seen any of the Kill Bill movies so I can only address this as a self-contained short film. I have three main comments. First, there is a full minute before you see a character. In a five-minute film, this is a significant portion of the film. Consider what exactly the purpose of those shots are. Do you really need that many? They are mostly generic flower shots, so could you maybe use just a handful to set the mood, then go right into the story? And finally, there was no true "conflict" until the very end, when she had to try to take the pebble from his hand. This might be perfectly fine, if you cut the flower intro down a lot. The key to telling a story is keeping the conflict alive.

There was a great mood through the whole film. That's something lots of people have trouble doing. I loved how the "teacher" was so flat the whole time!

thanks for the comments. i get what you're saying about the flowers being a bit too long and i'll try and keep that in mind for future projects i'm working on. the main reason i had the opening sequence go on for so long was simply so it lined up with the music.

Oh and the acting was supposed to be deadpan, because i wanted the whole thing to have a tongue in cheek feel to it.

peace.
