Kudos to MTF

I know there is a group buy for the Prolock Nikon to F3 adapter here on the forum.
I just want to let everyone know that if they decide to go with an MTF instead they will not be disappointed.
First off the service I received from MTF was nothing short of amazing.
There was an issue with the delivery of my adapter (Through no fault of MTF). I sent an email to Mike Tapa over there to make him aware of my situation.
He replied to my E-mail with a simple we will get another one out to you right away.
The next morning it arrived all the way from the UK! At no extra cost to me!
Thanks to MTF for your thoughtful costumer service.
I will add that I was also impressed with the quality of the adapter itself.
Put those two things together great build quality and top rate costumer service and it is a winning combination.
Thanks again to everyone at MTF keep up the good work!

I hate to be negative, but I too went through "two" adapters as with the first one the tolerence was off so none of my Nikons would fit on. I went through Abelcine and they shipped another one out right away. Now I'm dealing with the mess from FedEx because I owe money for duty/etc.. on two shipments. To actually get the money back I have to do some government forms and bs first, and wait several weeks. I have to pay first and get $ later, this was from August and still haunting me today. Lol

The MTF is a very well made adapter. I have one and its working very well. With one exception. Though the lens is a tight fit in the adapter the locking pin which holds the lens in place has some slop in it. Consequently when the lens is locked in it can still be rotated a few degrees. When focusing by hand this is not an issue, when a FF and gears are attached its a different story and the Torque from the FF can cause the lens to rotate. This is a real problem and one which will get worse as the adapter gets 'worn in'.

This appears to be the main advantage of the new Opitek.

I have the MTF as well and had this problem. But it can be fixed very quickly - like five minute. Use a screwdriver to remove the 3 front screws. The pin and release lever are actually threaded. adjust the threading, problem solved.

I've actually discovered that if you just rotate the pin itself, you can fix it even without a screwdriver. It works because the release lever is unable to rotate with the pin.

Good as new!

MTF was great when there was no ProLock!
It got me to where I am now with my Nikon lens kit and F3, but that adapter was so sticky when changing F value during shooting... I also had the "lemon" version of the adapter last spring (locking pin and lever was loose, resulting in permanently locking the lens on the adapter). Of course, that happend first time in the middle of the shoot. I contacted MTF, and received replacement adapter with in 2 days for no extra charge ( bravo to Mike!). But, the new adapter was sticky as well... Again, it was a first grade solution for beginning. Now, I moved on to ProLock that suits me better. Who knows, tomorrow it might be Birger adapter for Canon :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)...
