Krasnogorsk-3 shoulder mount mod

Thought maybe some one would want to see this. I took my old Krasnogorsk-3 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krasnogorsk_(camera) shoulder mount and ground off the two small mounting tabs to the inverted hand grip. I then took a quick release tripod mount I had laying around and glued in a little no slip foam to space it out. Lock tight now. Shoulder stock is extendable and with the Z-Finder this is probably better than the larger shoulder mount systems I'v been operating with.

It's my CCCP tactical shooter.

Nice!! The ISCO is looking good up at the front there.... very desirable little 'scope rig!!

Go out and make some nice flarey 'scope films and share!

Ah shucks, you guys noticed. Yep, sourced an Iscorama 50 (so that's the 36 anamorphic attachment). I shot some stuff & uploaded from the first night of ownership. But without the super awesome Nortega-Krash-3 hack, so I'll start another thread with a curious question posed to everyone.

We'll keep this one focused on the shoulder mount, if anyone's got a Krash-3 laying around and has further ?'s let me know. It's about a 2 minute hack and totally worth it. Shot a bit more with it today. Sweet handheld rig that looks like one complete factory unit built for speed.

it's nice , but here in singapore, if i handled something like this in the street. the cops and security will come down on me.

I dunno, there are other mounts that are far more sinister looking:

Remember, you can always rattle can it safety orange.

Just a heads-up on that AR15;

I'm not sure if its a shoop or a gag but you do not want to go outside with that and point it at someone. A serialized AR15 lower receiver (The part the buttstock attaches to) is legally considered to be the firearm.

No idea who that AR belongs to... just an image I found. Pretty over the top... which was the joke. I trust your advice for two reasons:
1. You're holding a P90 in your pic
2. You live in Arizona

Hi Fates,

how offset is this shoulder mount? I mean, does that shoulder butt go off at an angle to your shoulder, so that the viewfinder is in front of your right eye?

Is the angle adjustable or is it fixed?

The offset is about 3.5 inches, with the stock tapering from the base an inch, so there is plenty of room to get right up on the camera. I don't have any problem comfortably placing the eye piece exactly where I want it. It's no like you have a large element resting on your shoulder with this setup. It wedges more on your pectoral/armpit area so ergonomically it's perfect. If you were a giant, you could use a second baseplate/quickrelease to achieve even more offset... but the balance would suck.

I was just going to answer this via PM, but thought I'd share the info here:

Saw your rig the other day and i finally found something that i really appreciated aesthetically as a Guerilla filmmaker. I was able to get the handgrip and gunstock only for 50$ and im amazed by the quality and how portable it is.

Although im currently lacking a quick release i just ordered the Manfrotto 577 which looks similiar to yours perhaps abit shorter slide plate. I would be very thankful if you could just give me some pointers on how i should get the set together.

Thanks for the inspiration,

Otto

The two tabs at the top of the pistol grip need to be ground down (unless the M 577 has openings which allow for the tabs to fit... if it doesn't, you know... a great idea might be to drill out openings in the M577 to lock the plate from turning). If you don't drill the tabs out on the base plate and opt to ground them off the pistol, then a thin sheet of cork or no-slip rubber should be glued to the bottom of the plate to avoid rotational slippage of the quick-release plate base. That's about it. Screw 'em together assuming the thread pitch is the same... should be right?

The main reason I wanted to post here is that I was looking through the 77mm filter set that comes with the K-3 and saw a .75 diopter!!!! It works great with the Isco and is a definite focal change from the 1 diopter (haven't measured out the focus distance yet, been working in favor of tests... and unfortunately posting here). So maybe this will make the price of a Krash-3 kit more reasonable if it comes with a .75 77mm diopter...
