Kong Trailer..

I, for one, am more excited than I have been for any film in a long while. My little guy makes me show him the trailer & the first look every day.
How about the shot of Kong jumping up and smashing the plane with his fist? I get short of breath when I see it!

As for the family Callaghan...
we'll be there opening day for this one.

LOTR dry and boring? Give me a break. I can't think of a more exciting series of films to come out in the past several years. Unfortunately, when a movie or series of movies become huge successes, people start trashing them. I'm sure there are also people that accuse Aliens or Raiders or Terminator of being "boring".

*psssst! don't feed the trolls!*

Chad-
Where did you see that? I haven't seen that shot yet. Just the theatrical trailer.

Will definitely be there opening night.

I saw the trailer in front of Jarhead too. I think I will definitely be part of the midnight showing crowd. The production diaries are outstanding. I will definitely be buying them on DVD come Nov 22nd. Right now, I'm in the process of converting the Post Production Diaries to iPod-friendly format so I can carry them around as portable inspiration/information.

And the Incredible Shrinking Peter Jackson is fascinating for some reason. Is he on a diet? Or do you think all these epic productions are just whittling him away? :)

i can't wait for this film! i haven't been this excited for a movie since Revenge of the Sith. As soon as I saw that I was just counting down the days till Kong... looks amazing.

Although Peter Jackson is ingenious and his films are amazing (especially his earliest work Dead Alive, Meet The Feebles, Forgotten Silver and Heavenly Creatures), I have reservations on this one.
Am I the only one who doesn't experience a sense of danger or excitement when it comes to CGI effects and monsters?
Then again, Jackson acheived breathtaking results for Lord Of The Rings...so, of course, I'll be in line with everyone else.

the visual fx are gonna be a much more driving force of this movie. it's been trouble in the past, in like jurrasic park and stuff, but i'm confident he'll pull it off rather well. the capabilities have come so far and the kong animation is just freakin sweet.

Jurassic Park is one of the few films where I had zero problems with the CG... of course at that time the dinos were an incredible breakthrough. Now we're just inundated with the stuff. I remember being so impressed that the Galimimus stampede was shot handheld.

The stampede was the scene that I though really let the film down. Looked really fake... even when I was 10.

Just saw one of the new trailers. Totally freaking awsome. God I can't wait to see this. I've been following for over a year now (since PD 2 or 3) and I am more excited about seeing this than Star Wars III I believe.

I have found the post production diary on http://www.kongisking.net very interesting.

After seeing this, my partner and I started watching the diary online and couldn't stop -- even though we had a deadline, we watched all 15 episodes. It was really well done, and is also being released on DVD next week -- Amazon is taking pre-orders at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._1_5/103-2815717-8155026?s=dvd&v=glance&n=130.

Anyway, this got us so excited about seeing the film that we've already bought our tix to next Tuesday's midnight movie...

I'm with you.

CG should ENHANCE traditional effects . . . not REPLACE them.
