KKBB Casting Call video

I filmed this with a DVX100B a few days ago, but it probably doesn't look it - we didn't have any lights available! And.. I only recently got the DVX and still don't know how to properly use it. I better learn, stat.

Also, we had just found out about the contest two days before it was due, so we were pressed for time...

Check it out! I'm the guy in the video.

The girl plays my girlfriend... but not in real life. Unless... we win. Then I'm in.

Preferably... the 5th one. Becauusee... that's the best.

I mean... if you... think we deserve it.

Ha! But seriously, enjoy!

Kinda funny... pretty good acting... not bad.

When no lights are available, use something for reflection! Just a whiteboard reflecting back on your face would have made a nice difference, and you can pick one up anywhere. Hell, I've even used a car windshield reflector on shoots before.

Toby,

That was fun - good acting.

As someone mentioned you can definitely do a lot just by reflecting light.

"That's the wrong throat." <- great line

Good luck,

Chris

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try that tonight. We're about to do a sweet short film about Click. I'll post it soon, hopefully it comes out better.

The acting was pretty good on this, I enjoyed it. You guys were pretty funny together.

I agree w/ the bounce board next time, also pay attention to "the line."

Yeah you crossed the 180 degree line, basically their line of sight. You were cutting from his right shoulder to her right shoulder, crossing the line. It messes with the audience's perspective. When shooting dialogue between two people it's best to stay on one side of the line.

That and I think your shots could've been better framed. But hey, it's about the acting right? Nice job.

Ohhhhh. Ok. So it should have been over my right and her left, then?
Totally makes sense. It was just tough to focus on how I wanted to say the lines while trying to make sure it'd look alright as a video.

I really just went for the acting... which is alright for this type of thing, I guess. A cheap guitar can still make good music. Amen?

I think I'll set up the shots and whatnot beforehand next time, so I can focus on them and the acting separately. Or better yet, I'll get one of my friends to worry about the shots. Heh.

Thanks for the comments.

Hahahahah!! No kidding.

See what I did there? I did a little.. a uh.. a pun. Kidding. Cause the... *wipes brow* ... tough crowd.

That one made me laugh the hardest though... adorable.

I went to rate the vid, and I am not sure how to submit it.... oh well. I tried giving you a five in hopes you can land that sweet sweet girl. She'd be the real prize if you won. ;)

Not bad at all my friend.... (I am now talking about the video)

Thanks mate. Just click one of the stars under "Rate:" and it should highlight in blue, you don't have to log in or anything.
Our score went down a half star today. Laaammmeeee.
There are 2 I think with 4 stars... they must be destroyed.

A meeting with a casting director or some such, which isn't really anything. The top 20 get watched by the director though, it's just.. the one who gets the highest rating at the end of the first week gets an ipod. heh

See how there are black bars on the sides and the top of my submission?

Why is that?

Anyone know offhand? Cause it's killing me.
