"KISS" frames

Hey guys,
I'm kinda new around here, but I'm not exactly "new" when it comes to the DVX. Anyway, I thought I'd post a couple of images from my first short which was shot last October. I'm currently working on my third short, but I figured I should post these before I post my new stuff so people can compare.

The stills are taken directly from the DVX no color correction/magic bullet.

On a side note I realize the word "copyright" is mis-spelled on the photos. My little brother did the uploads and I wasn't there to catch them. Anyway, enjoy!

Comments appreciated.

Re: "KISS" frames

what is this a porno? The blues may be a little to saturated for my taste. You could tone it down alittle in post. Other than that it looks okay. Looks like them girls are taking turns making out. My kind of movie.

Re: "KISS" frames

HAHAHA!!!!!

crack me up....SPIDER

Lee, i like the wine glass and the shoveling in rain ones.

Re: "KISS" frames

wait, I'm confused, your dvx name is aedude01 and your gender is female. Anyways, I agree with DVpixl, you wine glass shot looks awsome! Can you post up some clips? I would very much appreciate that. thanks.

Re: "KISS" frames

looks good...some of the contrast seems like it could be bumped up a bit in the shovel shot...imho. but other then that looks nice....

Re: "KISS" frames

move camera up higher in your shots, unless your perspective is from the little brother

hmm...i think thats a stylistic choice that is hard to make without seeing the big picture...

persoanly, in general, i think lower is better....

Re: "KISS" frames

Hey guys,
Thanks for the comments.

BLUESPIDER, no, it's not a porno. LOL but I can see why you might get that impression. The short is actually about a girl who discovers that her boyfriend is cheating on her, while she herself is cheating as well. In short, lol, she decides to "remedy" the situation. Also, thanks for the catch on my 'gender' issue. Um, I forgot to switch the profile to 'male'. LOL

BARANT: The camera is suposed to be lower in all of these, I'm not a big fan of 'birds eye view' unless the situation merits it as in the 'rain digging scene.'

As far as posting some footage, I am hoping to post the entire short just as soon as I get some $$$ saved up for some webspace. So stay tuned!

Thanks guys.

Re: "KISS" frames

well of course its up to his personal taste but if you look at any feature, the camera is a generally a little below chin level...i see alot of stuff that looks amateurish IMO because of low shots for no purpose. Just my opinion ( i was only talking about the kitchen and makeout grabs)

Re: "KISS" frames

The shot with the glass is very nice, for my tastes anyhow...

Re: "KISS" frames

Nice grabs. The blue doesn't bother me too much. Kind of looks like 16mm short films my friends and I use to make in college. Anxious to see some of your newer stuff.

Re: "KISS" frames

While I agree about what people have already said regarding the saturation, I think there's some very interesting compositions there. Well done mate. ;)

Re: "KISS" frames

What kind of lights did you use on the blue scenes? The text at the bottom was a bit distracting, but I am looking forward to the trailer.

Re: "KISS" frames

Hey guys, thanks for your comments. I've really enjoyed reading all of them.

Slimothy: The lights I used are none other than ACE Hardware $10 flood lamps with 200wat flood bulbs from walmart that are gelled. :-) Nothing too spectacular :-)

Re: "KISS" frames

Oh s*** - can't you keep the dark thread in the dark thread for Christ's sake?!

Speaking of Christ - The Passion of the ****** was a pretty dark show wasn't it?

Re: "KISS" frames

i'm a realist... and i'm curious... and please note that this is entirely subjective:
i find the blue lighting distracting given that the shots they are in are at night. what possible blue light source would there be in a room at night? or outside at night?
esthetically speaking, they "look" nice, but it jumps out as fake to me.
again, this is technical constructive criticism only, so don't take it too seriously. :P
