KiPro Mini bracket for AF100

I am just making the first batch of these they will be ready to ship in the next ten days.

The bracket interfaces with my NanoFlash AF100 shoulder brace system. My NanoFlash solutions are shipping now. http://www.westsideavstore.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=8&pg=1

It is available with or without the shoulder brace and large IDX or AB battery plate. This particular setup is using the IDX battery to power the AF100, KiProMini and it still has a D-tap open for some other accessory. You don't have to have the shoulder brace but it works very well to balance the AF100 for hand held and the large batteries give long run times. Much smaller battery solutions are available made by Alex Dolgin a sponsor here. I am working with Alex to integrate this right on the KiProMini bracket.

The whole rig comes off quickly, the shoulder brace is separate and also comes off quickly. But this is compact enough to fit in a small run bag assembled. I developed this working with Robert Stone on Skype. He was very helpfull shipping me his brand new KiProMini so I could develop this kit, and he made many design suggestions that I used.

I also developed a bigger version of this, I will call it the studio version, the difference is that all the cabling is easier to access and the KPM sits higher up. I will post photos of this setup as well soon.

The finished kit will be all black anodized aluminum like the rest of my system. The price for the smaller kit will be $200.00 and the larger kit will probably be the same, or both for $250.00 the shoulder bracket is $75.00 and the battery plates and power cables pricing will be out soon.

You can contact me directly for a quote, or to order. Shipping will be in the first week of April.

Looking great! Have not decided yet what recorder I will get, but if I get a Ki Pro, I will seriously think of getting this bracket!

As a left handed ("left-eyed"), I am wondering how much clearance is there between the finder and the ki-pro if I was in a situation where I need to use the finder horizontally (as shown in pic 2 and 3). Would it be possible to slide on the right the ki pro, if needed?

Great design anyway!

Here are some more photos, The first 2 are the Studio version, less compact but easier to get to all the cable jacks.

I will post more details soon, these are fresh of the milling machine.

would it be possible to have the front of ki mini pro facing the operator?

Do you mean turned 90 degrees so the keypad faces left.

Yes this could easily be done, but the KPM would stick out quite far, to the right of the AF100.

I thought about having a hinge mechanism so it could swing in. But this would add to the price quite a bit. But if this is what users would like I can do that.

I am looking for feed back on my basic design and I will consider all suggestions. You can contact me directly, or post here.

Thanks for your comments.

I could make a special version of this setup where both the shoulder bracket and the KPM would be moved for left eye use, I have done this before for other cameras. This would probably cost a bit more, but if there is a lot of demand I can make more of them. The biggest cost of one-off custom pieces is the anodization. It costs me $75 to have one piece anodized, and $125 to have 50 done, so it is an economy of scale. I can make them painted black but they will show wear much quicker, or they can be brushed aluminum finish.

do you have pictures of it with a person using it :)

No, I have not had time to shoot that yet. But the Boston FCP user group has an expo tomorrow where they have one of the first kits, Daniel and Stuart were up here yesterday to pick up their kit.

I will ask them for a photo of someone using it there. I had to send my unit back to Robert yesterday.

I will definitely contact you when I am ready.

Thanks for the info.
