Terra 6K has the same sensor as KineMAX 6k
Terra 5K: 5K 60FPS, 4K 100FPS, 3K 150FPS, 2K 200FPS
Has option of global shutter, native iso 800
15 stops DR with rolling shutter and dual gain mode
13 stops DR with global shutter
The Dual gain feels like a HDR thing?
RAW 12bit + ProRes 10bit internal recording, KineLog3, 2.5" SSD
About the same size as a 5DIII

I once owned a KineMini 4K. Decent camera.

As always, specs look nice on paper, but most people probably won't commit because of the uncertainty for the product, customer service, etc. If they can come to the United States or somewhere else and get more cameras into people's hands, I think it would do good for them. Prices look nice.

yeah support and customer service in Europe would also be a must for a lot of people. Didnt really look that much into the camera's before, and I just started looking into it, the camera's do have a really nice look to em(maybe a bit noisy, but the image looks better then anything in the pricerange).

That was always my issue with them. If they could make a professional RAW camera system and want to compete with RED, then they need to have cameras and support available in all territories, not just China. Also, the website always seemed to not work or be offline various times that I checked and I even wondered if they were even still in business. I think the footage from the cameras looks really great and I wish they would expand and partner with someone in the US if they have to. More user stories and articles would help too.

Specs remind me a lot of the Ursa 4.6k. Quite amazing to fit inside a 5D. Looks like the annual parade is beginning...

If I’m not wrong one of their cameras used the same sensor as the Blackmagic 4K. So it’s possible they got a hold of the same sensor as the Ursa 4.6K too. It’s an off the shelf after all. Those specs look familiar for sure.

isn't the URSA 4.6K a Blackmagic created sensor?

I've own a kinemax 6k and owned a Kinemini. They are the closest thing to the ALEXA. I have never had any issues with support and found the team to be very helpfulWP_20160217_22_43_26_Raw.jpgWP_20150803_19_26_17_Raw.jpg

That's my Kinemax with my Lomo 25-250.
this camera has shot a major car commercial, and the post house thought the Pro-res files were from an Alexa. (don't ask for footage from the spot, i can't share it). And having owned 2 kinefinity cameras and all black-magics (pocket, 2.5k and 4k-except the ursa, I sold my 2.5k when I got the kinemini 4k. because there was no comparison) i can say for a fact that They are not the same sensor. or even close

Rumor has it that it's a Fairchild Imaging LTN4625A off-the-shelf sensor, but BM has customized it based on their own goals/specs.

If John Brawley sees any of this, he's one that can definitely clarify.

And, if anyone's interested in LTN4625A (the SKU number just rolls of your tongue), here's its spec sheet in PDF.

Hint - it has global (or, to be more accurate, dual mode) shutter as an option.

That's my understanding too. That it's not "off the shelf". I think I saw it in the video with John B on the BMD site.
A philosophic question is how much of this is "plug & play" and how much is customizable.

Fairchild Imaging's LTN4625A sensor specs exactly match the Blackmagic 4.6K. But someone said that it may be the unlisted MST4625A.

Who knows exactly what the deal is. But even if Blackmagic "developed" their own sensor, they would still have to work with an established foundry to stamp it out and, before that, probably an established chip designer to work out the nitty gritty. Since Blackmagic seems to have got the sensors for the Pocket and the 2.5K Cinema camera from Fairchild, it would make sense for them to work with Fairchild for the 4.6K sensor. Fairchild probably didn't already have a 4.6K sensor. It probably went like this:

Blackmagic: "Got a 4K sensor"?
Fairchild: "No."
Blackmagic: "Got any plans to make one?"
Fairchild: "Nope."
Blackmagic: "What would it take to make one?"
Fairchild: "If you front the R&D."
Blackmagic: "How 'bout we front 80% of the R&D and agree to buy 10,000?"
Fairchild: "Okay."
Blackmagic: "Make it 4.6K, and get as many stops of dynamic range as you can."
Fairchild: "We'll see what we can do."
Blackmagic: "Oh, and framerates. We want high frame rates."
Fairchild: "That will be [REDACTED] million dollars."
Blackmagic: "Here." (cha ching)

--- time passes ---

Blackmagic: "We have developed a 4.6K sensor!"

Actually dug up this quote from JB (he was addressing another John):

"John, there are only a handful of sensor fabrication plants in the world, most of them with names none of us would be familiar with.

Almost no-one makes their own sensors in-house.

But plenty of people design and customise to order. That is the intention of whomever told you that. That this is the first sensor that Blackmagic have customised to their own specifications."

It depends on which one. They have cheap bodies and then options you can buy/unlock like high framerates, more resolution, etc.

The KiniMini 4K body is $3500. Then it depends on what you want and need.
