KINEFINITY KineMINI 4K & KineMAX 6K cameras

To be fair, a lot of higher end electronics are manufactured in china these days - especially by Japanese companies...
Apropos - an international auto show is taking place in Shanghai right now. There are apparently several knock-off of the popular European models, including a virtually identical Evoque. The Tata group, which manufactures Jaguars and the Land Rovers, is not amused.

That is pretty hard to know. These cameras are just "internet" cameras to most of us. No experience, no track record and made far far away. Price would have to be quite a factor to get some activity imho.

Who would be interested in buying Kinefinity cameras if there was a US based sales agent.??
Two years ago, probably quite a few people.

Now, with URSA Mini coming out at ~ $5,000 and A7s/Shogun combo retailing for even less, the affordable narrative/studio oriented 4K market has two (mini) heavyweights already. Toss in GH4 and NX1 into the fray and the low end is taken too.

And the top tier pro market will be very reluctant to go with a total newcomer, having sufficient funds for FS-7, C300 MK II on the "low level" and ARRI, Panasonic and Sony cameras on the high.

I would probably buy a 4K today if they gain US support. For the locking Nikon mount speedbooster and 2K cineform in camera. I might buy it anyway except there is nowhere I can rent one from in the U.S. and I'm not investing until I try it out.

I personally think the image is pretty bad. The color rendition is something I would definitely steer clear of for the type of work I do. No offense to the company. I applaud them for what they are working on. The way the camera renders mixed color temps is pretty terrible.

I thought it looked pretty film-like. The grading was a little heavy handed but you can clearly see it's handling the highlights nicely.
They need to get US distributors ASAP and get the cameras into the hands of some reviewers.

This does have a comfortable look ... Almost a softish 1080p like vibe....
Except when they showed off the 4k detail with a shot of the wine glass w/ice cubes
Almost slamming into sharp focus...
I also felt the handling of the complex array of lights was a bit disconcerting...
i think inpart because we weren't visually clued in by the clip about the light sources...so they just made
certain things look odd with no contect to understand why...

rolling shutter, iso tests and a kinemax/kinemini comparison:

i find the performance in lowlight on par with today's cameras. i think that iso 6400 is cleaner than on my fs700/7Q in slog2, which is already a lowlight beast.
looking good!

plus, i think the other video with the mixed lighting looked decent - though, teal and orange may not be the best grade to interpret a cameras behaviour in different circumstances.

Hello. I have a kinemax for a few days. I totally agree that the most of works done with that camera are bad and poor. It's important to know, however, that the camera will have an important update of firmware (were will be implemented the hi speed 4k and the 3K gold option), so we are testing right now a camera that will be obsolete in less than two months, if kinefinity promises are real. I will share the results in a few days.

Two works made with the Kinemini 4K than can be considered made by professionals:
