Getting some home repair supplies at Lowe's today and took a look at the tool bags.
They have a 2-pack from AWP (makes decent canvas tool bags) of "accessory bags"; heavy canvas with rigid bottoms & a top zipper, about 5" - 6" deep and 4" wide - one is 14" long, the other is 12". $9.99 for the pair.
Last night I was organizing and trying to suss out a better way to deal with all my superclamp parts and small grip stuff. I got 7 or 8 superclamps in the 14" bag, and all my spigots, adapters, scissor clamps and odds & ends in the smaller one. Now all the crap isn't banging around in my big case full of gel frames and scrim parts.
I don't know why, but lately I'm more excited about cases & organizing than I am about lenses & lights. These things rock, you end up with little packed "cubes". Check 'em out - they're not on Lowes or AWP's web sites, must be a one-off deal, but I found them with the AWP stuff by the tool boxes. Best thing? Ten bucks and yet they look totally pro - B&H would charge ya $40 for the same thing. They're not padded so don't be thinking lenses or microphones - but for the rough & tumble odds & ends, tools, tape, etc - killer.
