Kids Say The Darndest Things.

...such as the case with my 3 year old daughter Eden. a few recent examples:

1 - a military helicopter flew over our house a few days ago (as they do quite a bit in San Diego)...she said "Hey, it's Obama! Obama waved at me!"
(she was strangely captivated during the election coverage)

2 - Motivated only by me telling her not to hang on the doorknob to my office, she said in response "Daddy, don't be a prick."
(i do not know where she got that, i promise, but we routinely trim our rose bushes, and i may have used the word in botanical context...just good/bad context on her part...)

3 - When she does something naughty and i lose my patience while correcting her, she often says "settle down (dramatic pause) ...be patient."
(that drives me to grab a beer) ...ahhh fatherhood.

what are YOUR kids saying? I'm all ears!

see my daughter on Vimeo!...www.vimeo.com/chrislight
(don't expect the naughty stuff on Vimeo...just a few sweet moments)

My girlfriend's daughter, Piper - she's a cheeky git. Though lovely.

She say's a lot of thing's now, she's learning all these new words. Funniest times.

I brought my 4 year old girl to work with me one afternoon so we could scoot out early to the Cinderella play that evening. I was working at a sweat shop post house in Fishers, IN under a creative director that lacked creativity and direction and perhaps vented at home too much. Anyway, I finished my spot and asked if I could break out early, explaining why. Even though I had met my deadline, he refused just to be a punk doink. I was mad but trying not to let it show. I explained to my little princess that we'd simply skip dinner and still make the show. I went to the bathroom, leaving her in my suite and as I came out I heard a commotion in the hallway. As I rounded the corner I heard Tera giving the creative director what for. She had him cornered, had one hand on her hip and the other pointing a finger in his face as she laid into him...
"I am NOT missing supper tonight and we are NOT missing Cinawewa! You don't pay my daddy enough! Your a punk and a doink and..."

aaannnd that's when I stepped in laughing, explaining we would indeed be heading out for Cindawewa at that point.
