Hi everyone, we've just begun our kickstarter.com launch for our feature-film in production: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD or: HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE APOCALYPSE

We're about 60% done with principal and I just wanted to thank this forum for teaching me so much over the last 2 years and inspiring us to make this film, we're not looking to raise very much, just enough to help pay the talent for the rest of the shoot and a few odd lens rentals and a location fee.

Thanks everyone!

I assume the explosion sound is missing?

EDIT: Duh, just had to look down.

I think a trailer would work better than a dialogue scene. Shouldn't you have enough material to put something like that together yet?

EDIT: I do like the actual use of anamorphic. Looks far better than crops, IMHO. I hate it that more websites with video simply have to have their video-sized box and to hell with you if your video doesn't fit the proportions.

Thanks Gary - we have shot about 100 pgs so we have a lot, I've strayed from doing a straight up trailer because our story has two interweaving storylines and we've shot 90% of the first one but only a little bit of the 2nd storyline (that's what we're raising funds to finish shooting), so I was worried that it might not be fully representative, however if you think it might work better I'd be fully willing to cut a trailer that focuses on just the first part of the story - what do you think?

I would make a trailer. It looks good, and I love the technical aspect with the anamorphic shooting, but I don't think the technical impressiveness will necessarily fly with as many people as you need to help complete your film. The dialogue scene just doesn't do it for me story-wise, as it doesn't tell me what I need to know. That said, your trailer doesn't have to include every aspect for a 100% representation of the story (just think of all the professional trailers that don't really paint an accurate picture of the film...Inglorious Basterds anyone?) You can always cut a new trailer later on when you have more footage. Just make that best "whiz-bang" trailer you can with the elements you have and get people excited for your project.

Will do Gary - looks like I have a new weekend project - I will post here a preliminary one and get some feedback before reposting it to Kickstarter. Thanks so much for your input and for following us. The anamorphic has been an heck of a thing to learn how to execute, but I do love shooting that way (well, I like the result, it's a pain in production!)

Yeah, I bet focusing is a nightmare...but hey, there has to be something to separate the men from the boys, right?

Absolutely! Go hard or go home! You just can't pass up an opportunity to shoot true anamorphic on a big sensor at this price point, it's tough but man when you nail a nice anamorphic shot the results make it all worthwhile.
