Kickass Steadicam + Crane combo

It's pretty cool, but I am pretty sure the GH1 does not output video while you are recording, so I would think that limits you to the GH2 :)

cool steadycam / crane combo!!

But I would go rather with deep-DOF than GH2.. When you have such movement, the video it is going to be interesting anyway..

Put Canon HV20 or similar and you gona have better picture quality, that can be upgraded with good CC..

With the 7-14mm on the Gh2 this would be insaaaaaaane...deep dof crazy wide shot.

Anyway the GH2's implementation of AVCHD is going to grade better than HDV from an HV20 most likely...but that's a story for another day.

Well, given the kits for this system are $15k to $30k I think people shooting on a GH2 might be mostly in a different price bracket! :) I think if I was spending that much bank, I'd be shooting on something nicer than a GH2 or HV20!

Size does matter - its all about being able to use lighter and smaller cameras that offer good quality that can be put on rigs such as that. Sure they can be somewhat costly but It offers some new and interesting angles. This is one of the main reason I choose the GH cameras to run on my my rigs. It helps keep them portable and small enough to get into places I couldnt before.

Well I'd be lying if I didn't say I use my 7D for the same reasons. That said, I switched up recently to the AF100 because after spending all this money on additional gear, I can't live with the artifacts I get shooting on my 7D, or the GH series either. I'm tired of doing tricky shots that have really neat results, only to find some object I didn't notice creating patterns galore. I think the AF100 is pretty light, so if I were running this rig, I would MOST definitely use something like an AF100 at the minimum to guarantee less chances of having to reshoot.

(However, I do wish they'd have made the AF100 a little smaller, though the depth is primarily set by the LCD screen on the side)

Of course, the one other issue I have is weight with smaller cameras. The 7D has weight, but I still add even more weight to my stabilizer because it helps. The t2i was just too light without a LOT of extra weight helping the system. If I were going to try and float the GH1/GH2 or even the HV20 (which I own an HV30 so I am familar with this camera), I would add A LOT more weight to the system. Especially looking at the sample videos, I can see some unwanted movement in the image.
