SHORT: Key Lime Pie

This is the first time i've ever shot food. My girlfriend has a food blog and was looking to add some video to it, so I decided to film her cooking our favorite dessert, Key Lime Pie. I'm here looking for some critical feedback. Everyone i've sent it to aren't too great at critiquing, but being new to this area of filming I really want some. I'd appreciate if you could watch it and give me some feedback. Thanks a lot!

Nicely shot, appropriate music. I thought your decision to keep the shots tight on the food and ingredients throughout was a really good one. Too many cooking videos make the mistake of forgetting about the food. Obvious I know...

Thank you! I can't stand watching cooking videos with people babbling on and on about the process.

I love it.

I would shoot your lights through a big, white topper over the cooking workspace just to liven it up and let your reflective surfaces come alive with a broad white light source. You can build a frame out of anything from 2"x2" wood to pvc pipe and get a garden variety wide roll of tracing paper from the store (tracing, not "drafting" unless you really want to spend that kind of dough - I prefer drafting paper, myself, but it is around $70 a roll) and stretch it across the frame. Suspend on c-stands or (seeing as your gf probably wants to do these a lot) create some semi-permanent solution?

The important thing on the topper is to reinforce the corners somehow or you'll always be fighting with it. It'll make a nice top light for your girlfriend, too, if you decide to get some candid shots of the "joy" of cooking. People do read her blog for her as well as for the food, I imagine (my wife has blogs, too =).

Looks good, though, man! Very tasty!

Oh, and the word is "refrigerate" not "refridgerate". I know:, I know: "fridge" is a word we made up in America.

Thanks Joe! I appreciate the tips! I actually have a light with a softbox on it but didn't think to use it, so i'll bust that out next time. We were racing against the clock as the sun began to set, and as you can tell, towards the end, our main source of light was totally gone. Is it best to position the light on an angle/side like that, or directly overhead? Also, thanks for the typo fix - i'm going to do a recut in a few days to tighten it up a bit and i'll make that change.
