Key Light Softbox Size for Interviews

My two cents

For LED key light diffusion,I have been using a Super Clamp and knuckle on the same C stand holding my (LED) key light and using a Mathews Road Rag 24x36 or 18x24 silk on it. I also put some frost on the LED unit itself if need be.

The upsides of this set up are:

Far more compact, less hassle on the cart and in my vehicle, LED- battery power convenience, no fluro bulbs to deal with, more durable kit. The super clamp minimizes grip gear needed for the silks- no additional stand needed.

I'm a huge fan of Road Rags. They have made life so much easier... in spite of their price. :-O

I'm a fan of frames and fabrics (I've got a big pile of Westcott Scrim Jims which I really like and have used for over a decade). That's great for fairly high-key stuff, but it's really tough to do a low-key setup without softboxes and usually grids. You'll end up with piles of flags and drapes.

There are very few one-size solutions - they key is to get gear that can do multiple looks.

We do a lo of taking head shoots and really needed an upgrade from our PhotoSel softbox setup.
I just got a 2 x set of PhotonBeard Photon Beam 80 LED fresnels - http://www.photonbeard.com/led-lighting.html
Fantastic UK built & highly rated powerful lights with softbox option, quite pricey but a great investment.
Approx £1600 inc. VAT with 2 x heads and carry bag
