keeping it unsqueezed!

I shot some stuff with the ana adapter & kind of like the strched look (with letterbox bars never the less pasted on top)for a particular scene? Am I crazy thinking maybe I could use it un squeezed? Is it done?

Re: keeping it unsqueezed!

You can keep it squeezed just letterbox it in post and DON'T tell your NLE it is anamorphic when digitizing and editing.

Re: keeping it unsqueezed!

You may be crazy but what the hell. When I was a kid in Ireland, they used to broadcast some films like that...I vaguely recollect some big Charlton Heston epic with the squeezed look.

Even then, at a very early age, I found myself fascinated with that aspect. It definitely made things look larger than life.

Re: keeping it unsqueezed!

"Is it done?" Why not?--filmmakers do every sort of manipulation. It's your film and there aren't any rules.

Re: keeping it unsqueezed!

Exactly. Just tell everyone how "the camera adds 10 pounds? Well, my camera makes you lose 40 pounds." :)

Another thing you can do with the anamorphic is loosen the screw and skew it off-kilter while shooting -- you can get some neat effects, great for "drunken-cam", etc.

yeah, remember paula abdul's music video, "promise of a new day." even the show, "in living color" made a parity of the video calling it, "promise of a thin me."

Re: keeping it unsqueezed!

I have tossed the idea to and fro . . . wont be using it this time round but I liek the image distortion at full res, I do think it can be used to enhace a point your making, thanks guys!

And as for the weight loss! I WISH IT WERE THAT EASY!
