Greetings all... Today in my travels picking up gear I worked up a deal with a local guy who had a softcase he wanted to sell off to me. When when I picked it up tonight I was so surprised to see that it was the Kata Vari Bag designed for a big body panasonic DVCPRO HD camera.. even has that embroidered on the side. Initially I thought it was too big, but when I put the deviders around the camera.. It fit perfectly snugly with just enough room to slide it in nicely.. I added a bit of foam to fill it out.. and then to my absolute joy the other half of the bag perfectly fits a spot for my wireless mikes and the P2store. Since there's still a bit of room above the camera and gack.. I put my shotgun mike on top... and all of the support crap in the side pockets..
Man it works like a dream.. especially since I got it for free. I just have to shoot a bit of footage for him next week. I checked online and the bag is pricey at 350 bucks.. but it's really nice bag.. Has pockets perfectly fitting for the p2 cards and all that. I'm so stoked.
Good **** is happening... For those on the fence about whether the camera will get you some gigs.. The answer is YES YES YES. Get this camera the earliest you possibly can. Today I booked 3 days next week.. all with people who want to get this camera but want to try it out first... I took Ben Rock's advice and I got it early and the rentals are starting to happen...
When I get my server up.. I'll post pics of the kata bag... I also found a great old cd-r case from Que that I never use.. added some foam and it's now my p2store case..
I also can't wait to show up to a gig.. pretend to have a varicam and say.. hey man, who shrunk my varicam.. What's this little toy that produces almost the same quality images...
