Pretty nice. The bag will take a fair bit of pressure before giving and at the bottom of the bag it is really stiff. The only thing I worry about at all is the section right on top of the handle. The bag isn't very stiff there and the camera could take some pressure. Really though, as a carry on it has worked really well for me and it's easy to transport on my back. I've been happy!
Please stop marketing your small backpacks with DVX100's.
For anyone thinking of getting an R-102 or R-103 backpack, be aware that a DVX100 DOES NOT fit as shown.
It puts much pressure on the eyepiece and microphone, so much that the onbard mic has bent down. This, even without a 15" laptop (Kata markets a Powerbook and DVX100 in their photos, this does not work ).
I love their quality, but can't stand the bad markting.
Is HB-207 suitable for carry-on? The HVX fits in my Petrol bag which came with my PD150, but takes up virtually the whole bag. It is not a backpack, though, yet it is carry-on.
About the purchase: I bought it a little over a month ago from B & H. I caught it at the right time, as they had the 502 for $169, a good $60-80 cheaper than anywhere else. I also got Kata's InsertTrolley for free!
Since that time, the price for both is $349.99. I haven't seen a deal that good since.
I've taken two flights with by HB-207 since picking it up and it worked fine as a carry on. Little snug putting it in the overhead, but it worked. I was on a 757 both times though. On a puddle jumper you'd likely have more trouble.
