Kat McDowell - Not good for me

Wow... Kat McDowell is a hottie. Where is that? tokyo?? I just got back from there, didn't recognize the bridge/water location.

I'm too hungover to analyze the video, but I'll come back after more sleep and give my two cents. I will say that I'd lose the (or change the) opening sequence after it says "scarlett films..."; the "Kat McDowell, Not good for me" doesn't work well. Change the font, and make it smaller. Just my opinion... but I'll bet others agree.

edit: just saw your "australian in tokyo", so I know it's tokyo... but where's that bridge at?

Its rainbow bridge in Daiba. I guess in Asia its considered a famous landmark... often people propose to thier girlfriends at the beach location, very popular dating spot. Fonts etc were artists choices (for DVD version only)

Just say this: Band shots are limited as Kat has just signed to a label and is changing the band, so I didnt want to overuse those shots.

Any comments anyone?

Yep she's a hottie. I really enjoyed this video and the music. I don't know much about the mechanics of style that go into a good music vid, all I can say is this one totally worked for me. Was this shot on a dvx? I would love to put this video In my blog to add some great noise and cool work. Would that be possible?

Looks pretty good, don't know if I love the quick cuts, but that is more of a personal preference than anything else. I am kind of wondering about your scene settings as the whole thing was kind of video looking for a DVX. Maybe you haven't colored corrected yet? I'm not saying it looked bad just video-ish. I am happy that you didn't get the magic bullet bug that is going around though :)

Thanks for the comments... has been cc'd. Was shot at 30p. Some sequences I couldnt use lights, like the train... and initially there was another thats been cut out, so thats why I made that initial call to use 30p.

Mino thanks for the comment.. and Im glad you liked it, thats what matters most.

Nice work. You had some good shots in there. Editing wise, I thought you had too many quick cuts. I'd prefer to go with tighter shots (mid - close) of her while she's singing, too, and I'd hold those shots longer. I thought some of the wide shots with her singing didn't work as well because the music feels up close and personal and she seems too distant. Just my opinion, though.

I couldn't tell you shot at 30p... What are the pros to shooting 30p? The only reason I would shoot 30p is to pull off some slow motion work. And even then I'm usually gonna shoot 60i for that. Just curious. Great work though!

hey man,

Only thing that irked me was the editing. A lot of cutting that isn't needed. You cut from the band then a CU of her, than back to the band, then the exact same CU of her. I would try and put as much variety (angles and/or locations) if you want to cut that fast. Also, save those fast motion shots for the ending where it's most "upbeat".

I would just start from scratch. You would have a totally different perspective and could turn out a better copy.

My opinion, take it or leave it :)

btw, loved that shot with her playing on some pedestal and the city in the background.

I like the song and the video. How come you did not use any adapter for this? but still looks pretty nice though.
The only thing is that you showed the girl too much. I really did not get to see the other band members. There was one time where it was only the beat playing, I would expect you (not really) to show the drummer really hitting the drums to make the audience feel it. Apart from that, pretty cool.

By the way, what happened to the guy and girl at the end. I thought there was a story line but you didn't show what happened at the end?
