FEATURE: Kankered - A Feature Film From Brickhouse

Second last day of shooting. We're shooting a total of 7 scenes at 2 locations. It's the biggest day yet, but it's also nice to be able to see the end of the tunnel.

Here's a pic from yesterday:

June 9th 2010 Update:

I hate doing ADR. It's the worst. Very tedious. We're close though. We rocked a 9 hour day, Monday, and we're looking at a 12 hour day today. Our deadline is a week from today. Hopefully we can meet that deadline.

We're done ADR, I've moved into my new apartment and now plan to edit frivolously.

I hope to be done the bulk by the end of the summer.

Have a good day.

We did a bit of a mini screening last night, and I must say even I had a few really good laughs. I would like to update everyone as to our new plan.

Because we shot guerrilla style, we do not have location releases, contributor releases, etc. All we have are talent releases. So the idea of getting into a film festival or gaining distribution is sort of out of the question. Therefore we are going to go down a new route that has been far less explored than the aforementioned options, and that is a free release via the internet. We are going to launch an online marketing scheme and try to build a bit of an audience for when we release it online. Then to make a little bit of compensation money, we'll have some Google ads on the page. Maybe we'll also take donations. However, our spent budget was 2000, so it's not a tremendous loss if we make nothing. I'm more interested in seeing if I can't make a few people laugh.

I will continue to edit the film. I will also finish designing the website which will host the film.

Any update on the website that has it hosted or to be hosted, and/or a location to see the film? o.o

Since you are planning on releasing online for free... might want to consider turning it into a one off webseries? - Maybe include the option of buying a dvd of the entire movie to fans once the series is complete?

Or, I guess if you do not get the response you hope for with releasing the feature, you can always go back and turn it into episodes too. *But here's hoping it's a success!

I think we'll keep at as a whole.

No releases are required for any of the festivals I've entered so far, and that's 12 of the biggest festivals out there. Even places like Sundance don't ask or require any kind of release.

Distributors won't care about location releases, just anything that needs to clear a copyright and talent release forms.

Soooooo close to being done the picture edit. We have a guy willing to do the sound edit for free and he's a pro. Yay!

So glad to almost be done this project. 3 years in the making. I plan to submit to Calgary International Film Festival and then maybe Vancouver and then releasing it online set up for free viewing with ad-revenue.

Let me know what you think.

Also, can I submit to festivals without rights? How does that work? I can probably get releases for most of the stuff but there is a few things that I won't be able to get rights for. I don't really plan on it getting distribution. Let me know.

First frame of the film^^

It's getting there. We've been discussing the soundscape and we're really excited about it. It's going to be pretty epic.

The Werewolf Conversation at the end got an LOL out of me.

Dude with the short hair's pretty fun and natural as an actor.
