jvc website test footage

i've been trying like crazy to play the footage here http://pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/faq.jsp?tree=&model_id=MDL101539&itempath=&feature_id=13

of the fishing boats shot in dv and down rezzed hdv. i can't get it to play. it downloads with the quicktime player icon in center screen but then after the download finishes and i click the icon nothing happens. i also tried the vlc download still can't get it to play.

Hi Brian,

PC or MAC? It's an mpeg file so I don't know if it will play properly in QT or not. One a PC should be no problem. Just right click on the image and "save as" and then play it from you desktop with the WMP.

To play it on the mac, control-click and select "Download Linked File."
After it has downloaded, Quicktime will tell you that it isn't actually a mpg file. It is right, it is actually a mpeg transport stream. So just change the extension to "m2t" or "ts" and then VLC will play it fine.


IMHO, it is a really unfair comparison. Frankly I don't believe that the DV footage would look that bad, even after converting to m2t. Something just doesn't seem right here.
