JVC TM-910SU hook up question

I recently bought a used TM-910SU for field monitoring and post production purposes. I'm currently using a SONY PC-100 handycam as a deck for editing in FCP. I'm thinking if I use "Playback on DV Device" setting in FCP, the Handycam will display my edit on it's LCD. If I hook my Handycam up with the JVC, then I can view my edit on the monitor.

The SONY has an mini jack to RCA(red yellow white) cable. The JVC only has BNC video inputs in the back. So I bought an RCA/BNC adaptor, and used it with my mini jack/RCA cable on the JVC. But the setup didn't work. I can get audio, but there's no video. The monitor only displays a bunch of scan lines.

I don't know much about hooking up a production monitor. I don't own a professional deck either. There're a lot of people here use cheap DV cams as deck. So how do you guys set up with your production monitors? Thanks.

You will want to connect the Yellow "Video Out" RCA connector on the deck to the BNC "Video Input - A" connector on the monitor. Use that supplied RCA-BNC connector.

No need to plug anythign into the BNC output - that's just a loop through.

Then check the buttons on the front of the monitor. - make sure the "A/B input select" button is out (in 'A' mode). Thenmake sure that the "Ext. Sync" button is also out (I think this is your problem, when it's in the monitor wants a Sync. signal from seperate inputs on the monitor, without which it'll just show scanlines out of sync with the picture.)
Also make sure the NTSC/PAl button is out as you are in NTSC land. Then play with the other buttons to see what they do, these are used for calibratignthe monitor, good explantions for which can be found online.

The "Normal" operatign mode for this moinitor (in NTSC land) is all the bottons out and video into input A on the back.
