Jvc hdv

Hey guys, i just have two quick questions about HDV...

I have footage shot with the jvc hd250U, shot in PAL. It needs to be captured. The guy that has been doing it for us claims hes used a jvc NTSC to capture it, and it was all fine. So, my questions:

1. Is that doable really? NTSC HDV camera to capture HDV PAL?
2. Im guessing regular PAL mini dv camera would be useless for this?
3. How about if i find any hdv pal cameras? Not sure if there is variations of the codec from one to another that make it a problem...

And yeah, i guess it was 3 questions after all!

Thanks in advance!

1. I wouldn't have guessed so, but I would trust someone who says they've done it.

2. You are correct, a regular DV cam is useless for HDV footage PAL or otherwise.

3. I know sony and jvc are different and not compatable (sony uses groups of 15 frames for compression, jvc uses 6). Someone who knows more than me recently said that sony and canon are compatable which would make canon also incompatable with jvc hdv.
