JVC HD110 Question

It doesn't. For SD, the DSR-400 is far superior to the HD110 merely because of the CCD size and the low light performance. In this case the Sony will outperform the JVC in every way.

If you turn the table though and include HD, the JVC will trump the DSR-400 in every way.
 
In my opinion under good lighting conditions the JVC GY-HD110 will blow away the Sony DSR-400. This is because in the 480p SD mode the JVC can capture 480p video at the full 60 frames per second. The Sony DSR-400 can only capture 480p video at 30 frames per second. Therefore the JVC has twice the resolution that the Sony has. While the SD mode of the JVC cannot be considered high definition nevertheless it is such a high quality that it could easily fool you into thinking that it is high definition.

Resolution isn't based on fps...
