Love! Love! Love! This camera. Unfortunately it isn't the best tool for our company. I bought the camera less than a year ago from Full Compass in Wisconsin. Fan hours are 222. Firmware has been upgraded to most recent version (2.06).
Things I love about this camera: The monitor is amazing....best I have ever seen! The lens is awesome...wider and tighter than all other cameras I have worked with before (hmc80, hmc150, sony vx2000, sony pdf150). Two SD slots which can be used as backup or serial and even one with full recording and the other with cuts only (awesome for football games where the coach wants plays only but the players want the whole game). Low light is better than the hmc150 imo. Construction of body is solid and feels like a camera of substance.
I really love this camera and have taken great care of it. The only reason I am selling it is because the depth of field is too shallow at nearly all F-stops. For many people, this would be awesome...and the image is truly beautiful. But it also means that when you are shooting a live event where there is a lot of movement and changing of distance of the talent from the camera, the focus has to be constantly monitored. This of course, is just part of being a good camera opp. Unfortunately the one touch auto doesn’t work as good as it does on other cameras and with the shallow depth of field you have to be spot on. For the type of events that my company does, by the time you have perfect focus, the talent may have already moved. Every other camera we have used performs better under these same circumstances given the type of shooters we normally work with. It’s simply not the right tool for us.
In addition to the camera, we have two full size batteries (one came with the camera) the other has $160 value, and the varizoom controller (JVC HZ-HM600VZR $279 from BH) to go with it.
$3800 includes camera, 2 batteries, and controller and shipping is free (US ONLY). Paypal preferred.
Camera is in mint condition and we have never had any issues with it.
