Don't get the HD250. I own the HD100 and it's much cheaper and for your purposes just as good. It's the same camera with a few less features. The nice thing about the JVC is it has a impressive pro look. It's a great looking camera. Having said that, like the HVX200, it's getting long in the tooth. It was the big thing about 3 years ago. If you can come up with 6 grand get the Sony EX1. Until Red Scarlet comes out, nothing is in it's class right now.

thanks for responding
Sony EX1 with the tax and warranty isn't going to cost me more than 6 grand
do you have any ideas how much would be the GY-HD250U/HD251E
i cann't find the price
thanks

You can get a used HD200 or 110 for probably around 2500. The HD250 is virtually the same camera except it has a Jack pack. If you buy second hand, make sure the firewire isn't blown. They blow when you hook 6 pin cables up to Macs unless computer and camera are both OFF.

And to play the Devil's Advocate, my HD100 was replaced out of the box for a funky red smear that appeared throughout the tapes. A year later, I had to fight for 3 months to get them to warranty the LCD that died suddenly. Turns out it was a loose wire. Their service is near the bottom of my list for competence. As a camera, it is only so-so.

thanks everyone responding, but can anyone warm me or might be able to sway me one way or the other about it, GY-HD250U or dvx200 which one before buying this camera the hd100 i am here a lot things but i m not planning to buy any used camera ..

Any help is much appreciated

Yes, the fire pin connectors are prone to shorting. ALWAYS power off. They're solid cameras. Two of my friends swear by them.

Just long in the tooth. The hvx200 is not a great wedding camera unless you plan to shoot SD. The record times are too short. It's also a softer image than the JVC but has a better codec.

Are you coving events? If it's just movies and music videos you can avoid tape. But if you plan to do weddings or anything with a long record time, you'll be best served by HDV/tape.

Hello guys, i'm a new member and my story is prety much like Tuka's. Your comments are very helpfull to me...:dankk2: Tuka, I've done some homework on the gyhd100-250 and I like to get the 200, wich is basically the same of 250, but more advance then the 100. My intention is to use it for wedding videos, comercials and eventually feture film productions. I think it all depend on your budget. good luck.
Ps: by now you probably have decide which one to get, i will like to know your expirence. thanks
