JVC GY-DV300U 700 Lines???

Hi, could anybody tell me what's up with this camera? I have read all I could find about it. It says 700 horizontal resolution, but it also says only 380k effective pixels per ccd, which are 3, so I don't know what's the difference with other cameras in the same $$$ range which have more pixels, but less horizontal lines. Or even the JVC HD10 U, which has 720 lines, and 840 k effective pixels BUT only one CCD. Could anybody give me some advice on this? Thanks.

The standard definition DV format allows a maximum of 480 vertical lines of resolution.
Despite the DV300's stated 700Line resolution the format will not record it. The HD100's HDV format can record up to 720 vertical lines of resolution but once you fator the lens and other processing it probably delivers an actual 625-650 lines. This is still almost twice the resolution of the DV cameras because it's both horizontal and vertical resolution togeter.

A 700-line camera's image (e.g., BVW400) will still look sharper than a 500-line camera's image (e.g. BVP300) even if recording to a format which can only resolve less than 500 lines of horizontal resolution.
