JVC encoding for FCP

Ok so I got some JVC footage that I need to edit on Final Cut (BLAH). I can't get log and capture to accept the media nor Quicktime to play them back. Anyone have this issue solved. Sorry, but I do not work with JVC and have no clue where to look. I tried googling all the error messages but nothing comes up.

I wasn't aware that JVC was a video format. Do you know exactly what kind of format you're trying to work with? What camera did it come from? If it's tape-based, what kind of deck are you trying to use to capture it? If it's file-based, what's the extension on the source files?
