JVC deck -ARRRRRRGH!

I have a JVC BR DV3000 deck with my Avid Xpress Pro system. The darn thing will not batch digitize. It usually takes the first two or three clips okay, then goes belly up, freezing the system and requiring a reboot to get things working again. I brought home a JVC BR DV600U from work, hooked it up and it batch digitized all night without a glitch. Anybody else had similar problems?

But wait, the anguish is not over yet. If I feed a show out of the Avid in blue dot mode into the 3000 to record it or watch it on a connected monitor, the sound drops out after each effect. It's the recorder you say! No, I brought it into work and hooked it up to an identical Avid system there and no sound problems. When I hook the 600 up to my system - no sound probelms!

If I put an overall effect - like a mask or color correction over the top of the show - no sound problems, but if the effects are out in the open the sound drops out. I even recorded the soundtrack (which plays fine with the picture turned off) and the picture separately, digitized them and synced them back up on the timeline - two separate clips with no effects. The sound still dropped out affter each dissolve or effect. I'm stumped. I've changed user settings, reloaded Avid - you name it - and nothing works. There must be a setting on my AVid or computer that is casing this - but why only on this recorder?
