JVC cleaning tape?

I've been searching around a while now trying to find an answer to this with no luck. As some of you might know, my DVX heads are clogged or somehting. Dropping out and messing up footage on playback like crazy.

Since my last professional cleaning (about 50 hrs on the hour-meter ago) I have only used regular JVC 63min tapes. I was thinking that a cleaning tape was just what I needed now? And also, will a JVC cleaning tape damage anything beacause it's not Panasonic? And if I use a Panasonic cleaning tape, will things mess up again if I use JVC tapes after that?

Or should I just leave my camera alone and wait to get my DVX cleaned in mid April? I REALLY want to shoot stuff now...:(

i used jvc cleaning head tape and it saved my life. lol it will work fine.

Whay JVC tape? The panasonic ships with its own AY-DVM63PQ (professional quality) which are DRY LUBE tapes desigend to minimize clogging and for use with the DVX. Check to see if the JVC are wet lube or dry lube. You can but these in 10 packs for $3.79 per tape from B&H Photo.

Or you can buy the AY-DVM63MQ (master quality for a liitle more. I think Sony premium taps have a dry lub as well and many have posted success with these. I us the Panny tapes with good success. Definitely pick one brand and saty with it.

The tape is JVC MDV60ME MINI DV. I can't seem to find out wether its dry or wet lubricant. But as long as I stick to it, it doesn't matter, right?

This is question that has been around the clock many times. I'm not sure there is a correct answer. I've been dealing with the tape issue for more years that I care to mention.
Here is my read on this issue for what it's worth.
1. Tape is the cheapest thing in our entire package and yet many times we find ourselves trying to save money by buying the cheapest tape we can find. The solution??? Find a tape that works for you and stick with it. Don't keep trying different tapes. Most engineers will tell you that when they design a camera, they usually use one brand of tape (Usually their own) and set their bias to that tape.

With the Panasonic cameras, we are very fortunate to have a great tape made by the same people who make our camera. Panasonic!!!!

I use the AY-DVM63MQ's ONLY!!!!!

I've never had a head clog using those tapes and I never have had to use the head cleaning tapes although I'd never leave home without one.

Most of the times if you do have a real head clog, it can be fixed just by putting in a premium tape (like the one mentioned above) and play or record on it. If that doesn't work, blow out the chamber (again which I do every time a have a new shoot.)

Hope this helps.
