Just used a DVX...

Dear Folks:

I finally got my hands on a real DVX! It was fun to play with.

I was shooting an interview and here's the problem I had... I put the XLR connector into Imput 1 and set "Imput 1" on the switch inside the LCD screen. I heard sound on the headphones and saw the readout indicating the level but when I checked it wasn't recording to tape. Not knowing what else to do, I pulled the XLR out of Imput 1 and stuck it in imput 2. Now it worked fine when I played it back. In fact, the level indicators were jumping on both channels when I played it back.

What happened here?

Also, what I shot looked nice on the LCD screen but underlit throught the viewfinder. That was disturbing. (I had no NTSC monitor on hand)

Yours,
Raoul

Thanks
Raoul

There are a number of different modes sound input. As you found you can put mic on input 2 and have it on both channels (volume controls each independently) Check the front controls where you set input/mic
and the switches on the inside of the camera (behind the LCD when closed)

Go through the menu and adjust LCD and viewfinder to get a better match.
