Just try to compete with this....

Professional quality video and audio. If you think it's too good to be true, then check us out at **********.

Professional quality? I did check them out, and you know what? I can record that "professional" quality of audio, too... in my bathroom, with my on-cam mic.

Nothing cries "professional quality" like a five-minute lock-down shot with bathroom-boxy sound!

Yes, I don't think they're the most professional...but they are offering videography services for $20 - that's ludicrous. I guess it's a good way to shoot a lot, but that's not even covering my gas most of the time to and from a shoot.

It's easy to compete with that though - just don't have a green-screened, locked off shot. Be creative and you're appealing to a different crowd.

But there will be a trend unfortunately, with prices dropping as the cost of good cameras comes down.

Ahhh that sucks. The lower the prices go the more video's/films there are to compete with. It's not even just that because obviously I'm in the game now because it's affordable for me but it'll be a sad sad day when everybody on the block has a music video and a film for sale.

It's getting harder and harder to stand out. Even with the hard work and professionalism... Oh well thats how life goes I guess.

OK, before eveyone starts jumping off a cliff, take their online tour. This is a threat to videographers the way the mall photo kiosk is a "threat" to pro portrait photographers. This is an unmanned, self service booth in a mall that goes for $20 for 5 minutes. Actually, I think it's a rather ingenious business model aimed at the people who would have a friend point a DV camera at them and be OK with it. I'd worry more about trends like real estate virtual tours for $100 that include travel, shooting, editing, voiceover and web placement.

I knew it was in a mall when I posted it - but not that it was unmanned. That's a whole different animal Now I wish I'd thought of it.
