Just starting out - deciding which way to go

I am not sure if I am posting this in the correct area and it can be moved if need be.
I am primarily a still photography who makes most of my income through stock. I am looking to add video to my offerings and would be selling it through a couple different agencies that I am signed up with.
My debate with video is multi-layered. On one hand I am thinking HDSLR and since I am a Nikon guy since forever I am interested in the new D7000 but waiting for hands on reviews. I have considered Canon (T2i, 5DMkII, 7D) and using an adapter to use my Nikon lenses. On the other hand I am thinking a good camcorder and doing video completely separate from still work. The budget is $1500-$2000 CDN so I could go new camcorder or used. I don't mind tapes so an older used camcorder may offer me more options.
Sound is not a big issue as with most stock video submissions the sound is dropped anyways. BUT I may also do some corporate and event work with the video. So also investing in a H4n is in the budget.
I have a good solid Manfrotto tripod for my stills, all I would need to pick up is a good video head for it.
So not only have I run out of hands for all my options but I now have a headache from thinking about all this.
Unfortunately I live in a small town in an area where I cannot go and play with everything as I know a lot of the decision process is actually picking up and playing.
One camera that has interested me is the new Sony NEX-VG10 with the interchangable lenses. Does seem to have a fair bit of manual control. As indicated above sound is not a big issue but is part of the equation.
There are video stock guys who are using and selling footage from a Canon HV40 and, no offense to anyone who has one, but I cannot see myself being serious about this type of small camera.
Used camera being considered are: Canon XL2, JVC GR-HD1, Sony DCR-VCX2100, Canon XHA1, Sony HDR-FX1, Panasonic AG-DVX100B, Sony PD150. XLR is nice to have but not a deal maker or breaker.

Any thoughts are most welcome.
