Just saw commercial for HVX200

I was at the first block of 48 Hour Films screenings here in Greensboro (mine screens Thrusday) and was watching a funny commercial for something. Much to my surprise, it was for the HVX200 - it's pretty funny, I must say.

Why's it not streaming right here?

Yes, I did the 48 hour competition when they came to NYC and they shoed the same commercial. It was this director which just kept waiting in his tailer for a package, and it just never came ... it turned out he was waiting for an HVX200. Looks like they are definitely targeting the filmmaking crowd with this commercial ...

http://www.filmsuite.com/reels/freshpepper.mov - thats the movie I made for the 48 hour festival ... we won the Audience Award and are now awaiting the judges to see if we won best of NYC ... can't wait ...

Congratulations, gonna see it later on, I can't now I'm leaving. Bet it was great, what did you shoot it with? DVX?

Thank you all for the kind words ...

I shot this movie on the XL2 and did all the post work and color correction in Final Cut Pro HD. If it wins best of NYC, I may have a chance to go to the final round where they fly us out to California to compete in the HD Filmmakers showdown. Since this is the world wide competition, my team would compete against the top of the competition from all over. And since Panasonic is one of the major sponsors of this festivals, this means yes ... they lend us an HVX200 for the competition and if we win, we get to keep the camera as one of the prizes :-P

But I'm still buying one anyway :-O

You can check out more info on the festival at www.48hourfilm.com

Thanks all ...

Hi,

What genre did you pull? We pulled 'foreign film' (ouch!) here in Chicago and made a Russian film. I'm most interested in your screenplay. Your writers came up with some good stuff in such a short time.

I saw the same ad (director waiting in the trailer) during the 48 Hour screening in LA in June. I too can't wait for this new camera to become available.

Our team pulled Mockumentary. Wow, Foreign Film to me was hard - but be glad you didn't pull period piece :-O

We had three main writers and me and two others were supplementary writers ... We all came up with the idea within the first hour and the writers just put it together real well after. I was lucky to have a very well balanced team where there were people skilled for very specific jobs ... I think that is key for any production.

Our team put together a solid piece visually and cinematically and the audio was dynamite but the story came up short. We couln't get a location permit we needed in time and had to scramble for a scene to solidify the story. Our approach was 3 act 2 scene per act with the 2nd scene 2nd act gone missing. We did Russian V.O. for the entire play with 4 voice actors. Your short is on par with the best of Chicago and I'd have a hard time choosing. The Chicago winner I believe was "mermaid" which was also a mocumentary/comedy.

Good luck in winning the camera but of course I'll be rooting for my hometown.

P.S. A New Yorker mocking something, now that's rare.
