Just picked up a killer shoulder mount

Re: Just picked up a killer shoulder mount

Boo thanks for clarifying, i think i am looking into glidecam now. I heard there is a vest for it also i can upgrade later on.
Thanks a bunch!

By the way i emailed habby cam and asked if they could compare their rig to image 2000, will update soon.

Re: Just picked up a killer shoulder mount

cool! i was about to do that. let us know when you get a response... :)

Re: Just picked up a killer shoulder mount

Looks like the habby rig is the short rail version. I haven't tried it, but the one I have was made specifically for the DVX with a longer rail to accomodate the flip out lcd. The shorter rail version would put the lcd square in front of or on your face, with no room to "see". The longer rail moves it out where you can see it.

Here's my recent setup for a video I just shot. The pic isn't the greatest. That's the Petroff 3-stage mattebox and Chosziel follow focus.

I've been using the single grip habbybrace with my DVX. I originally bought it for my smaller 1-chip Sony. Kai the one you have looks great...I just can't see myself shelling out another $400-500 for another brace. I've been operating by grasping the outer edge of the mattebox and that seems most comfortable for me.

350MV/503 head/sticks combo for me.

How are you guys putting on your eye piece chamois? Over the existing rubber eye cup or in place of? I've been using large round types and stretching it over the rubber eyepiece after folding it back on itself. It doesn't stay so well and normally end up gaff taping it...(you can kind of see it in the pic)

Re: Just picked up a killer shoulder mount

with regard to the tripod/head question:
I used to have a Manfrotto 501 but with all the gear on my DVX I found I needed something more solid so I chose the Sachtler DV6, mounted to my existing 540ART carbon sticks.
There was some modification required to mate the head and the sticks as the bowl clamping of the Sachtler is different to the Manfrotto.

Re: Just picked up a killer shoulder mount

This is the reply i have gotten from habby cam, very enlightening.
"I worked for Burns and Sawyer long ago and designed the Image 2000 while
there. My Super DV Brace is the Image 2000 at half the price."
Enjoy

Re: Just picked up a killer shoulder mount

nice! You'll just want to make sure the rails are long enough so the lcd doesn't smack you in the face...

Re: Just picked up a killer shoulder mount

hmm...maybe he meant more like 1/4 of the price or am i missing something?

Warmstepvision- Ask him that very question. If the rails are long enough, I'm game to get one!

Re: Just picked up a killer shoulder mount

This is the reply i have received when asked if the rails of habby cam are long enough.
"The rods are long enough to view both ways." (short and long)
Represent.

Hi Boo, you mean the DV version or the full version?

Re: Just picked up a killer shoulder mount

if we're comparing the birns and sawyer version that kai has for $395 to the habbycam super dv 2 arm version for $289 that would give you a savings of 25%...by the way rush...any great deals on a dvrigpro?   ;D

Re: Just picked up a killer shoulder mount

I revived the DVXuser $584.95 discount. ;D
