Just got my GH1 - 2 Questions

(1) The still and dedicated video button both can be used to start and stop recording video, correct?

(2) When I am in some of the settings, I am not able to see the changes on the LCD screen when I tweak the manual settings. For instance, no matter what my aperture or shutter is, the brightness on the LCD does not change.

Thank you.

1. yes

2. The effect shutter speed will have on the image is not displayed on the screen when photo mode, but you can turn it on. Press the "Shutter / Trash" button. A message on the screen will say "SHTR SPEED EFFECT ON [DISPLAY]" Then press the display button

Thank you for that!

I've noticed that I have to keep pressing it after each shot to see it...is there a way to lock it in?

Also, one last question....the shutter speed drop as low as 60" and then B. I've never seen the " symbol in shutter speeds. What is it and what is the B stand for?

Thanks again.

Thank you both. I'm a beginner, so I'm going to stay away from anything in seconds or the bulb mode. It seems like that is a very slow shutter that needs to be controled with a remote control or something as all my pictures come out blurry.

I love the GH1. If you have any tips or suggestions regarding shooting, handling, overall experience, etc....feel free to share!

Get a Joby SLR-Zoom Gorillapod and BH1 ballhead! Perfect match for the GH1.

Ah, the timer! Duh. I thought it was only good for self-portraits!

I'm definitely going to check out that gorillapod...it looks pretty sweet. Besides propping it up on table tops, this is mostly for lower shots, right?
