As a previous owner of a dvx and a proud owner of a xh-a1 i must say i really like the d90.. it has some issues but i knew that before i buyed it and big thanks to Lee Wilson and Kholi for all the helpful information on the good sides and bad sides of the d90.

Im really impressed with the image, of course this isnt as sharp as my xh-a1 but that is the reason i like it, the image is more artistic and the color is amazing. And the issues with rolling shutter and the strobing with artificial lightening is a little annoying, but the there is some issues with a 35 adapter and my a1 also.

id love to hear your experiences as i had an xh-a1 but sold it due to finances. id love to pick up a d90 if its something worth buying (and its cheaper than xh-a1). ive come to realize my filming is more on the hobby/occasional serious documentary and didnt need a super xh-a1 rig

I have to agree.

The movie mode is not prefect, but I've seen enough good footage(even from people who don't favor this cam.) around here to add this to my arsenal.Plus I've been taking stills with my hv10 an hv20 for far too long.

For the price that equals a 35mm adapter its a wonderfull cam, and it takes really good stills.

Bronxjragon: If its a replacement for xh a1? it really depends on what our use is. The a1 is a better videocam, but its much more expensive. And the fact that the size is much smaller im bringing the d90 more places. As many has said it really draws attention when shooting a a1 with an adapter, but when you use a d90 people think you are taking stills and wont react.
But the audio isnt the best, its good for home movies and such, but if you are recording a short you will need a michrophone and something to record it with.

Rylan: Exactly, it isnt perfect, but hey we cant complain right. Its like a really good still camera, 720p small size 35mm adapter cam with recording to sd card, interchangeble lenses for the cost of 1000$.

The biggest issue i have is the strobing in artifical lightening, but this is only on the pal models
