Just got a new camera - Sony F35

Around page 9, but the pics are down now unfortunately.

Thanks! Hey what kind of adapter were you using with the Lanparte base? It wasn't the original one that came with it was it? I'm thinking of messing around with this Tilta Baseplate I have to see if there might be a possible mounting option.

I'd love to see a picture of the bottom of the F35 (don't know if maybe you have one?), just to get a sense for how far the mounting holes are from the front edge of the camera.

When I had my F35 on a Lanparte VCT base shoulder pad thing like Mac I had to mod the Lanparte a bit. I tooka off the QR plate and mount that comes attached to the base shoulder part, then drilled/milled out the holes a bit wider to accommodate where the F35 wants to receive the 3/8" mounting screws on its bottom. I also disassembled the front part of the Lanparte (the rails attachment part) in order to get access underneath the deck to put the screws into the bottom of the F35. Of course it all went back together again fine. The Lanparte and Tilta shoulder rigs are like lego kits in that way. It was not an overly difficult mod, but it took some arranging to make the F35 fit right. The goal was to keep the camera as low as possible, so taking the QR off the shoulder piece saved almost an inch in height. With the F35's top heavy build that inch makes a big difference when going handheld. That and the QR system that comes with the Lanparte and Tilta shoulder rigs isn't really sufficiently beefy to handle the F35's bulk.

I'd show pics, but I sold off the lanparte shoulder base plate system some time ago when I switched over to using Tilta 19mm rails and Arri style dovetail base plate system on the F35.

The lanparte is cheap but I'll say that the vocas one is infinitely nicer in my opinion and much more low profile (like 1-2 inches shorter than the lanparte) which is important to me when you're tall and every inch lower to your shoulder you can get a camera is important. the pad feels nicer and it feels much more well built.

Thanks for the info! Any chance you have pictures of your current setup? I'd be interested to hear what baseplate / bridgeplate you're using on your dovetail setup.

Wonder if this would work? http://woodencamera.com/Bridgeplate-15mm-Studio.html

EDIT

Actually, what do you think about this, but without the top handle / cage pieces, just the dovetail / bridge base plate portions: http://www.cinegearpro.com/tilta-li...camera-limited-edition-grey-anodised-853.html

No don't make this mistake! F35 needs 15mm rods raised. I have only seen new vocas 15/19mm shoulder rig with proper height adjustment. Most cameras put 15mm rods under base, f35 is so tall it needs them raised up from the camera bottom. Otherwise your matte box/ff will be too far from the lens.

New F35's seem to be dropping in price for a complete kit. I paid 7K for my setup 1.5 years ago and it was bare boned, no handle no VF. This is a nice package with customization. Checkout the EVF, that is probably the nicest setup for the F35.

If you want stock Sony, also including the tape deck!

I think this guy wants around 3500K for the package, or at least he told me that. I don't think it will bid up that much but maybe make an offer. I would be tempted to try and fix it if it were cheaper.

Mac posted this one, but the 9000PL dropped 1k from 10 to 9. Looks to be a brand new camera.

I paid $5.5k in January 2013 for an F35 with EVF, IF Box and assistant panel... of course, I've paid more since to add some accessories. Looks like my rate is still pretty good.

but checkout the EVF, I believe that is the one from the article in F+D times, it was designed to be used as a handle.

That evf is the sony one with a custom made support made by otto nemenz. Sure's the support can be handy (and probably heavy as ****), but the evf is just the standard sony c30w.

Wait, maybe you're mixing two things here.
- there's the evf featured in the fdtimes article, based on a sony Evf with a different diapoter
- then there's the evf from that ebay listing, which is 100% a sony evf, just that it has a different eye cover (Hunter has that plasticy thing, I'm not a fan of it though) and a special bracket. So not the one I think you want.

Yes, you're right, I saw Otto Nemez printed on it and thought it was the same from the article. A closer look reveals the small differences.

Yeah, the one in the ebay listing is the same as what I have on mine - a stock Sony C30WR modded with the Otto bracket/support. The Otto mount does have a 4 degrees of movement kind of thing going, though. Forward/Back, Side/Side, Upd/Down and rotate. Pretty handy and the tension is adjustable.

It's a tricky purchase, because it's hard to tell how much damage it has. if it's only cosmetic I think it could be fixed for 2-3grand. For example the small metal pieces that lock the interface box and the handle are like $400 each. If one of the boards or sensor block is dead... well good luck I guess.
